HYDERABAD: Nearly a year after grandly announcing that 25 world-class foot overbridges (FoBs) will be built with a majority of them having escalators last year itself, the GHMC stated that 18 of them are likely to be taken up “shortly”.

Commissioner S.P. Singh has constituted a panel to expedite the works. Technical and safety certification of the designs are to be The latest list of 18 FoBs cleared are in Kondapur, Kothaguda, Osmangunj, Banjara Hills, Necklace Road, Kukatpally, Gachibowli, L.B.Nagar, Keshavgiri junction, Barkas, Toli Chowki and Kanchanbagh.

However, it is doubtful if GHMC can keep the assurance made to the Chief Minister about building all FoBs by March. Seven were built couple of years ago.
