'The General is a post-graduate'

ISLAMABAD JULY 3. Silencing the opponents of the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, the military Government has clarified that he possesses a post-graduate degree, qualifying him for the country's highest office.

"Gen. Musharraf possesses a post-graduate degree as required by a new Government order," The News reported today, quoting the National Reconstruction Bureau chief, Tanvir Naqvi. The Lt. Gen. was quoted as saying that Gen. Musharraf had secured different degrees over the years in line with his career in the Pakistan Army and other relevant institutes and universities.

He had done his Masters in Defence and Strategic Studies from the National Defence College (NDC), affiliated to Islamabad's Qaid-e-Azam University.

The Government, through a General Election Order, 2002, made it mandatory for a candidate to be a graduate in order to contest polls.
