Sanjay Dutt appears in court

MUMBAI, AUG. 21. In keeping with a judicial order, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, facing charges in the 1993 serial blast case, today appeared before a designated TADA court to register his presence following his return from a trip abroad.

The actor, who returned last night, was allowed to visit the United States for the shooting of his film `Dus' and to Canada and other places for personal engagements from July 22. He also visited Chicago to attend the Independence Day celebrations on August 14 on an invitation by the Counsel General of India. On a plea made by the actor's lawyer, Farhana Shah, the court also permitted him to meet his daughter, Trishala, in New York. The actor has been exempted from personal appearance till August 30. — PTI
