Ready to address grievances: Mufti

JAMMU APRIL 15 . The gun is no solution to any problem and the Government was prepared to address the grievances of any section of society, the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, said on Monday.

He was addressing a gathering of Sikhs in the border town of Poonch, marking the coming of Sikhism to the border district of Jammu.

Mr. Sayeed said Jammu and Kashmir was passing through a critical phase and there should be joint efforts of the Government and the people to turn around the situation. The gathering of over 20,000 people, including Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs in the event sent a clear message that communal amity and brotherhood was deeprooted in the Kashmiri ethos and could not be challenged whatever machinations the enemy might resort to.

The Government was sensitive to the pain of every section of society, particularly those living near the Line of Control. Despite the advice of security planners, nobody would be displaced from the forward villages of the district like Balakote.
