A 25-year-old woman, a US national, staying in a private cottage at a secluded place called Sadhana Forests near Auroville, was alleged to have been sexually assaulted by unidentified persons.
In this connection, the Auroville police have booked a case under Section 376 of Indian Penal Code.
The incident reportedly took place on Saturday when she was out for jogging.
The police are conducting the investigation to fix the culprits.
