Police action likely against Karmapa's sister

SHIMLA NOV. 24. The Dharamsala police is all set to take action against Nogdhup Pulzon, sister of the 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje, for not properly informing the authorities or seeking permission before leaving for Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim. She was reported to have disappeared from Gyuto Monastery at Siddhoari in Dharamsala on November 13.

According to police sources, the Karmapa's sister applied to the Tibetan Information Centre for permission to visit Rumtek Monastery.

The Centre issued her a courtesy letter but that was not the permission formally required from the Union Home Ministry.

Ms. Pulzon is reported to have returned to Dharamsala today as there was a tremendous pressure on her and anxiety on the part of the Tibetan Government in exile, whose officials had directed her to come back from Siliguri, as she had gone without the required permission.
