No security lapse, says Mulayam

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has rejected charges of security lapse for the terrorist strike at the Ramjanambhoomi site in Ayodhya, in which six terrorists and one woman were killed on Tuesday.

"There was no security lapse on the campus and this is why the militants could not reach the makeshift temple and all of them were liquidated."

The security forces were fully alert; how else could all the heavily armed militants be stopped a good 150 metres short of the makeshift Ram Lala temple, Mr. Yadav asked, talking to reporters here.

Security around the complex was reviewed at regular intervals. The State Government would seek help from the Centre if and when required, but for the moment there was no need for it. — PTI
