NDFB extends ceasefire

GUWAHATI: The National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) has extended the unilateral ceasefire declared by the militant outfit with the Centre by six months.

"In view of [the] continuation of talks between the representatives of the National Democratic Front of Boroland and the Government of India to formalise the ceasefire and to formulate the modalities of talks, the NDFB has extended the ceasefire by six months," said the NDFB spokesman, S. Sanjarang, in a press release sent by e-mail.

The NDFB had sent a truce letter to the Assam Government on October 14 last year declaring a unilateral ceasefire for six months with effect from October 15, 2004. "
