``NDA may fall short of majority''

NEW DELHI: The Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance may end up just short of a majority in the Bihar Assembly, exit polls conducted at the end of the final phase of polling predicted on Saturday.

According to Zee News and Star TV projections, the NDA is likely to get 117 out of the 243 seats, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal-Congress combine trailing by nearly 30 seats. Zee News-C voter analysis predicted 89 seats for the RJD-Congress alliance, while the Star TV-AC Nielsen survey gave 87 to the combine.

The Lok Jan Shakti Party of Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, who had emerged as a kingmaker in the last polls, appeared to be in for a severe drubbing this time. Zee News gave the LJP 18 seats and Star News just 16. — PTI
