Narayanan's ashes immersed

Hardwar: The ashes of the former President, K.R. Narayanan, were immersed in the Ganga at Brahm Kund near Har-Ki-Pauri here on Monday morning.

The urn containing the mortal remains of the former President was brought here from Delhi by Shatabdi Express and the former President's daughter, Chitra Narayanan, performed the ritual of immersing the ashes in the Ganga amid chanting of the Vedic hymns. Before the immersion, wreaths were placed on the urn by the State Minister for Urban Development, Forests and Environment and Minister in charge of Hardwar district, Nav Prabhat; the chairperson of the State Women Commission, Dr. Santosh Chauhan; the vice-chairman of the State Cane Development Board, Surendra Rakesh; the chairman of Hardwar Municipal Board, Satpal Brahmchari; the president of the Ganga Sabha, R.K. Mishra and a host of political leaders.— UNI
