Ministerial-level talks on Parambikulam, Aliyar soon

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM OCT. 22. Ministerial-level talks will be held between Tamil Nadu and Kerala in Chennai shortly on the Parambikulam-Aliyar river water agreement.

The Kerala Chief Minister, A.K. Antony, told presspersons here on Wednesday that the Government wished to solve the river water issue amicably through bilateral talks. He had written to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa, suggesting this and she had agreed to the proposal in her reply. Accordingly, he had asked the Water Resources Minister, T.M. Jacob, to fix dates for the talks, Mr. Antony said.

The agreement was due for renewal for quite sometime now. Kerala had been complaining that it was not getting its share of water as provided in the old agreement.
