Mamata has no political morals, says Pranab

Suri Nov. 24. The West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president, Pranab Mukherjee, today said the decision of the Trinamool Congress chief, Mamata Banerjee, to remain in the NDA was opportunist.

``Banerjee has no political morals left,'' the former Central Minister said at a party meeting at Panchra in Birbhum district.

He said the Trinamool Congress supremo's statements and political stand for some time in the past corroborated the fact that she was bereft of any political morality and had no firm political stance worth mentioning.

Mr. Mukherjee said during her tenure as the Railway Minister, Ms. Banerjee only inaugurated new projects and showed her face on TV.

He also charged Ms. Banerjee with doing little to ensure rail safety during her tenure as the Railway Minister.

``What safety measures had she initiated for rail passengers when she was in charge of the department?,'' he said.

The Trinamool Congress chief had blamed the Railway Minister, Nitish Kumar, for not giving much attention to passenger safety, after the derailment of the Rajdhani Express in Bihar's Rafiganj0. — PTI
