Low turnout for Sholapur bypoll

MUMBAI SEPT. 26. About 40 per cent turnout was recorded in today's byelection to the Sholapur Lok Sabha constituency of Maharashtra, a seat vacated by Sushilkumar Shinde on his becoming the Chief Minister of the State.

Sources said the polling was peaceful. Police had made elaborate arrangements to ensure that no untoward incident marred the voting. About 38 polling stations in Sholapur city had been identified as "sensitive".
