Islamabad relieved

ISLAMABAD Dec. 4 . There is a sense of relief in the Pakistani establishment over the decision of the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, to formally confirm his participation in the SAARC summit, scheduled here for the first week of January.

Pakistan is keen on making the SAARC summit a success and has been going out of its way to sort out issues with New Delhi.

A spokesman of the Pakistan Foreign Office lost no time in welcoming the letter from Mr. Vajpayee and expressed the hope that it could provide an opportunity for a meaningful interaction.

On Thursday, the Pakistan Prime Minister, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, said the summit would help member-countries come closer and resolve their disputes.
