INS Koswari to be commissioned today

The Navy's ninth fast attack craft INS Koswari will be commissioned here on Tuesday.

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command of the Army, Lieutenant General Bikram Singh, will arrive here on Tuesday on a four-day visit to the Eastern Naval Command.

He will be the chief guest at the commissioning ceremony at the Indian Naval Jetty in the Naval Base here.

The commissioning of Yard no. 2065 further augments coastal security, a spokesman of the ENC said.

Conceived, designed and built indigenously at the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd. of Kolkata, the ship is named after an island off Tuticorin.

INS Koswari is commanded by Lieutenant Commander Anil Kumar, a communications specialist.
