Indian Airlines announces winter schedule

CHENNAI OCT. 31. Reintroduction of the fourth daily flight between Chennai and Mumbai, besides the Bangalore and New Delhi sectors and an increase in capacity on the Hyderabad-Mumbai-Hyderabad and Hyderabad-New Delhi-Hyderabad routes are the highlights of the winter schedule of Indian Airlines and its subsidiary, Alliance Air, which came into effect from Sunday.

A IA press release said the schedule offered an increase in the frequency of flights between Hyderabad and Tirupati and restoration of the Kozhikode-New Delhi flight via Coimbatore and Mumbai.

The fourth service between Chennai and Mumbai (IC-174) is being operated with an Airbus-300 leaving Chennai at 6 p.m. In the return direction, the flight (IC-173) will arrive here at 10-15 p.m.

The daily evening Airbus-320 flight (IC-766) to Kolkata has been rescheduled to leave Chennai at 5 p.m. Also, the flight (IC-979) from Chennai to Bangkok will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays instead of Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Services combined

Indian Airlines has combined some of its services on November 3,4, and 5 in view of the festive season.

According to a IA press release, several important services including the New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore sectors have been rescheduled to operate as combined services.

Meanwhile, the departure of the Wednesday midnight Airbus flight to Singapore was delayed due to a "technical snag" in the widebodied jet.

The airline spokesperson said the delayed flight left for Singapore around 5 p.m. on Thursday.
