Hindutva, cultural nationalism cannot be equated: Cong.

NEW DELHI DEC. 25. The chief whip of the Congress, Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi, today joined issue with the Union Home Minister L.K. Advani, for equating Hindutva with cultural nationalism.

"It is an alarming signal and threat to the unity and cultural heritage of the country, and in tune with the VHP's definition of Hindutva," he said.

Taking umbrage at Mr Advani's definition of Hindutva, Mr. Dasmunshi said the Deputy Prime Minister had spoken in the same manner as Hitler.

The cultural ethos of the country were moored in its diversity as propounded by Mahatma Gandhi, Tagore and Jawaharlal Nehru.

"Perhaps, Mr. Advani has not forgotten his Ram rath yatra and the manner in which it divided Indian society".
