Gehlot Govt. doing well, says Cong. panel

JAIPUR JAN. 3. The AICC(I) committee, which visited Rajasthan to review the implementation of the party's election manifesto today, expressed satisfaction over the performance of the Gehlot Government.

"The Government is doing well. We are confident of coming back to power in Rajasthan after the November elections,'' the members said talking to newspersons before leaving for Delhi.

Assessing the situation against the backdrop of the recent election results in Gujarat and the defeat the party has suffered in three by-elections in Rajasthan, the team, however, asked for fine-tuning the working of the party and the Government and spoke of the need to launch an intensive public contact programme.

The committee members — Pranab Mukherjee, Ambika Soni and P. Shiv Shankar — who met the party workers for three hours in the morning before holding closed-door consultations with the Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, and the PCC(I) chief, Girija Vyas, ruled out any change in leadership in the Government and the party.

``There is nothing dramatic about our visit. We have been here with the same kind of task in the past too,'' Mr. Mukherjee told newspersons at the end of the exercise which attracted a large number of party workers.
