Congress expels 20 more rebels in Maharashtra

MUMBAI, OCT. 7. The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee has expelled another 20 rebels for six years for filing nominations against the party candidates for the Assembly elections. This brings the total number of those expelled to 47.

The expelled had filed nominations either as independents or on the ticket offered by the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Janata Dal (Secular) from four constituencies each in Vidarbha and Marathwada, three in western Maharashtra and one in northern Maharashtra. In the Chimur Assembly constituency in Vidarbha, 22 filed nominations and of these 13 are independents. One of the expelled is contesting on the BSP ticket.
