Cong. concerned over Bihar developments

NEW DELHI JAN. 3. Concerned over the developments in Bihar following the killing of three innocent youths, allegedly by police, the Congress has urged the Chief Minister, Rabri Devi, to ensure that those responsible for the crime were brought to justice expeditiously.

Manmohan Singh, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, spoke to Ms. Rabri Devi and conveyed Congress' concern over the developments.

"This is a very serious incident and we would like to see the criminals nabbed," the party spokesperson, Jaipal Reddy, said. He, however, ruled out the possibility of the Congress withdrawing support to the RJD- led Government.

There is a feeling in the Congress that the party should maintain its identity and independence. An option being considered is that the State unit chief does not become a member of the Government.
