Chinmoy honours mountaineers

Christchurch: The first woman to climb Mount Everest without oxygen, Lydia Brudey of New Zealand, was lifted by the spiritual leader, Sri Chinmoy, in Christchurch, New Zealand on Tuesday. To honour her accomplishments, he lifted her overhead with one arm and presented her with the Lifting Up the World With a Oneness — Heart medallion. On October 14, 1988, Lydia reached the Everest. Sri Chinmoy also lifted and honoured Guy Cotter, who has twice climbed to the top of Everest.
