Centre's credibility did the trick: Uma Bharti

BHOPAL DEC. 4. The Bharatiya Janata Party's star campaigner, Uma Bharti, today attributed her party's massive victory in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections to the credibility of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government at the Centre as well as to the campaigning of the party's "dream team,'' which comprised the Union Minister, Arun Jaitley, the party general secretary, Sanjay Joshi, and the State BJP chief, Kailash Joshi.

Ms. Bharti was addressing mediapersons at the State BJP headquarters after being accorded a rousing welcome at the Police Stadium, where she landed by a special helicopter this evening.

Reiterating her commitment to Hindutva, she said development and Hindutva complemented each other because development was directly linked to the progress of the weaker sections and women's empowerment.

Ms. Bharti said that after she took oath as Chief Minister, her main thrust would be on efforts aimed at eliminating corruption and ensuring law and order.
