BJP board to decide on Uma Bharti resignation

NEW DELHI, AUG. 21 . Faced with a sudden and unexpected turn in a case against the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Uma Bharti, in a Karnataka court, the Bharatiya Janata Party parliamentary board will meet here on Monday to consider if the resignation sent in by Ms. Bharti should be accepted.

Ms. Bharti announced in Bhopal today that she has sent in her resignation to the BJP president, M. Venkaiah Naidu. Senior party leaders feel that the Uma Bharti issue pertaining to the hoisting of the national flag at Idgah Maidan in Hubli would help the party focus more sharply on the issue of "tainted" Ministers in the UPA Government as unlike the "tainted" Ministers, Ms. Bharti has already offered to resign. "All aspects will be considered at the parliamentary board meeting on Monday," BJP leaders said.
