Bishop I. Jesudasan passes away

Bishop I. Jesudasan, former moderator, Church of South India (CSI), passed away here on Sunday morning. He was 89.

He had been in hospital since Wednesday. The body has been taken to his ancestral home at Amaravila.

The funeral will be held in the LMS Compound here on Tuesday, said a communiqué from the office of CSI Bishop A. Dharmaraj Rasalam.

Bishop Jesudasan was born to J. Isiah and Lissy at Amaravila in 1925 and is survived by two sons. He had held various posts such as principal of the Kerala United Theological Seminary, vice-chairman of the South Kerala Diocese, member of the Anglican Consultative Council, chairman of the Theological Literature Committee and patron of the Society for Integrated Development of Rural People, to mention a few.

Bishop Rasalam, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar, Deputy Speaker N. Shaktan and A. Sampath, MP, reached the hospital to pay homage. The Janata Dal (Secular) leader A. Neelalohithadasan Nadar expressed grief.
