Betrayal of national interests: CPI

NEW DELHI JAN. 28. The Communist Party of India today came out strongly against the Government's decision to sell its stake in the public sector oil majors — HPCL and BPCL — and termed it a "betrayal of national interests''.

Opposing the Government's decision to sell 26 per cent of its shares in HPCL and 40 per cent in BPCL to strategic partners, the CPI Central Secretariat said the move was "detrimental to the national interests''. "The Vajpayee Government is determined to break the public sector and hand over the national assets to the domestic and foreign monopoly capital'', it said.
