AIMCET on June 6

NEW DELHI NOV. 13. The first all-India Common Entrance Test for Master of Computer Applications (AIMCET) will be held on June 6, 2004, in 98 cities across the country.

A decision to this effect was taken by the National Advisory Board for the conduct of AIMCET which met here earlier this week. As a follow-up to the Human Resource Development Ministry's mid-October decision to replace the various entrance examinations for different professional courses with common entrance tests for each stream, the Board also decided that the 2004-05 examination would be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, as it is the only IIT which had an MCA programme.

As per the Ministry's decision, the AIMCET is for those institutions which conduct their own entrance tests and admit students on an all-India basis, and All-India Council for Technical Education-approved MCA programmes.
