A.D. Joshi is new chief of Strategic Force

NEW DELHI: Avinash Deodatta Joshi has been appointed the next Commander-in-Chief of the Strategic Force Command (SFC), the organisation formed in early 2003 to administer all nuclear weapons. Commissioned as a fighter pilot, he has over 3,800 hours of flying various aircraft, including the three variants of MiG-21 and two variants of MiG-23. Air Marshal Joshi commanded a frontline IAF base in Rajasthan and a flying training establishment. He was also responsible for forming the "Surya Kiran" aerobatic team.
