KOLKATA: Three police personnel were seriously injured when a bomb went off in the storeroom of a police station in West Bengal’s Malda district on Monday evening.

“Assistant Sub-Inspector Mukul Mohanta was in the room where bombs seized during raids are stored at the Chanchol police station. He was being assisted by two personnel of the Home Guards — Atul Pramanik and Maqbul Hussain, when the bomb went off,” Superintendent of Police Bhuban Mondal told The Hindu over telephone.

They were taken to the Malda District hospital. Mr. Mohanta is in a critical condition.
