Hospital row: court appoints 2 doctors

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday appointed two senior doctors to look into the day-to-day functioning of the prestigious Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai following a battle for its control between its trustees the Mehta brothers.

Executive vice-president of the hospital Narender Trivedi and senior consultant K. Ramamurthy were appointed after both factions gave their consent. A Bench, comprising Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justice R.V. Raveendran, in an interim order, directed that the two senior doctors give their report after every two weeks to the Board of Trustees till the pendency of the matter before a civil court in Mumbai.
