NEW DELHI: The post-mortem report of Shanno, a municipal school student who died after being allegedly punished by a teacher last week, has not ruled out epileptic seizures as the possible cause of death. The report was received by the Delhi police on Thursday.

“We received the post-mortem report in the afternoon. The preliminary findings say the girl had no external injuries. It has not ruled out epileptic seizures as the possible cause of death. We are now awaiting the viscera report to reach a final conclusion. So far, the findings have not hinted at beating or punishment being the cause of death,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Atul Katiyar.

He said the police have recorded the statements of the classmates and neighbours of the girl and would match them with the findings of the post-mortem report.
