Compensation raised for tubectomy

NEW DELHI: The compensation for tubectomy for those above poverty line people in non-high focus States has gone up from Rs. 300 to Rs. 650. where the acceptor will now get Rs. 250 in the non-high focus States while the remaining charges remain the same as in the case of the BPL, the SC and the ST categories.

The compensation package is the same for the high and non-high focus States where this facility is provided by accredited private institution or non-governmental organisation with vasectomy acceptor getting Rs. 1,300 and the motivator Rs. 200 while those undergoing tubectomy will receive Rs. 1,350 and the motivator Rs. 150.

For Intra-Uterine Device (IUD) insertions, the existing scheme will continue wherein Rs. 20 will be admissible to all the States for each IUD insertion in the public facility and Rs. 75, inclusive of the cost of the IUD, in the accredited private institutions in high focus States.

These additional funds will be utilised from the allocation made under the flexible pool of the NRHM and Reproductive and Child Health programme-II made available to the States. The States and Union Territories have been asked to ensure that the compensation is made on the same day at the facility where the procedures have taken place.
