SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed grave concern over the fire accident at an Army ammunition depot in south Kashmir and asked the civil administration and Army authorities to ensure that the situation was under control soon and the evacuated population provided adequate shelter and food. On being informed of the incident, the Chief Minister sent senior Ministers Abdul Aziz Zargar and Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed along with Divisional Commissioner and Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir to Khundru village, the site of the incident to personally monitor the situation and oversee evacuation and lodging arrangements for the villagers shifted from around the site. The population from 13 villages have been evacuated to safer places.
As the news of the incident broke, Mr. Azad the Chief Minister got in touch with senior Army and civil administration officers to ascertain details about the extent of the mishap and welfare of the people within and outside the depot. He asked them to shift civilians in the area to safer places.
