BANGALORE, APRIL 29. The welfare activities of the Bangalore branch of The Hindu were inaugurated by Dr. Nalini Krishnan, Director (in-charge of welfare activities), The Hindu, and the eminent cardiologist, Dr. Devi Shetty, at the office premises here on Sunday.

After the inauguration, Dr. Shetty made a presentation on the serious aspects of heart problems. He spoke on measures to be taken to prevent heart attacks.

He said Indians were genetically three times more vulnerable than Europeans to heart attacks, and they had such attacks at a young age, he said.

Dr. Nalini Krishnan spoke of the importance of health and welfare activities in an organisation. ``A Health and Welfare Centre is being run successfully in Chennai, and we are planning to have welfare activities at all our offices in India,'' she said. Health and education packages would be introduced at all the centres to create awareness among the employees, she added.
