Two unidentified bodies cremated

PATNA, JULY 20. The district administration today cremated the unidentified and unclaimed bodies of two of the victims of the Alliance Air 737 Boeing which crashed here on Monday.

The Government had issued public notices across the country that it would cremate the two bodies today if they remained unidentified and unclaimed. The cremation was performed at the Bhansghat on the bank of the river Ganga. Altogether 56 people, including 51 passengers and five people on the ground, were killed in the crash. Meanwhile, the police today clarified that the FIR filed in connection with the plane crash would in no way come in the way of payment of compensation or any other benefit accruing to the flying crew, Capt. Sohan Pal and Co-pilot, A. S. Bagga, who perished in the crash.

They stressed that it was merely a formality and the police investigation would proceed on the basis of the commission of inquiry headed by a Judge and the report of the technical experts.
