Two persons die in road accidents

BANGALORE, AUG. 21. Two persons were killed in road accidents in the city on Friday. A lorry driver, Sreenivasa (29) of Kunigal in Tumkur district, was killed on the spot when another lorry hit his vehicle near the Kengeri bus stand around 1.30 p.m.

The Byatarayanapura police have seized the lorries and registered a case.

In another incident, an unidentified boy aged around 15 was killed when a lorry knocked down his bicycle at 9th Block, Jayanagar, around 5.30 p.m. The Madivala traffic police have seized the lorry and are on the lookout for the driver.


A moneylender, who had reportedly suffered losses in business, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house in Yelahanka police station limits on Friday evening, the police said.

The name of the person was given as Anil Kumar (27) of 2nd Cross, 2nd Main, Gandhinagar in Yelahanka. The Yelahanka police have registered a case.


The Frazer Town police on Thursday arrested Syed Khaleed (19) of Ashwathnagar in Hennur and recovered from him plumbing equipment worth Rs. 30,000. He was allegedly involved in a theft in Frazer Town police station limits.

Accused held

The Sriramapuram police arrested Umapathi (21) of Narayanarao Colony on the charge of murdering an autorickshaw driver, Lokesh. The police said that because of rivalry, Umapathi had hacked Lokesh to death at Nagendra Garden on August 12. Umapathi has been remanded in judicial custody.
