Three held, huge quantity of medicines recovered

The drugs were stolen from a pharmaceutical company, say police

BANGALORE: The Madivala subdivision police have arrested three persons from Hyderabad on a charge of dacoity and recovered medicines worth Rs. 32 lakhs from them. The police said the three persons allegedly stole the medicines from the godown of a pharmaceutical company on Mysore Road in Byatarayanapura police station limits on March 23. Their names were given as Ramulu, Ramesh and Raghu, all from Hyderabad.

After the incident, the police had said that around 10 people who came in a lorry jumped over the compound wall of the godown of Nicholas Piramal India Ltd. at Nayandahalli and attacked two security guards, Raghunath and Gokul.

They tied the hands of the guards with towels and broke into the godown. They loaded 100 cartons of medicines into the lorry and sped away. There were around 10,000 cartons of medicines in the godown, the police said. On a complaint by an official of the factory, Sathyanarayana, the Byatarayanapura police had registered a case of dacoity. An attempt was made to burgle the godown in 2002 and the management had dismissed a few employees suspecting their involvement in the crime, the police said.


Burglars broke into a house, two factories and a steel mart on Saturday night and took away Rs. 1 lakh in cash and gold ornaments, silver articles, machinery and iron rods, worth lakhs of rupees in all.

According to a complaint lodged with the K.R. Puram police by Sameeth Dhabi, a top executive with a leading biotechnology company, burglars broke into his house on Basavanapura Main Road and made away with Rs. 50,000 in cash, gold ornaments and silver articles.

In another incident, burglars took away iron rods worth Rs. 1.2 lakh from a steel mart located on Uttarahalli Main Road near K.R. Hospital. On a complaint by the proprietor of the firm, G. Sreenivasa Rao, the Subramanyapura police have registered a case.

Using fake keys, thieves entered a factory on 3rd Cross, Wilson Garden, and stole Rs. 50,000 in cash. The Wilson Garden police have registered a case on a complaint by A. Muthaiah, the proprietor of the factory.

Burglars broke into a factory in Rajagopalanagar police station limits and took away machinery worth Rs. 95,000. A case has been registered on a complaint by Anuradha, one of the proprietors of the factory.

Man found dead

A 24-year-old man was found dead with head injuries in front of a house in Indiranagar police station limits on Monday morning.

The police said the body of Shivashankar, a native of Tamil Nadu, was found in the compound of a house on 17th Cross, Lakshmipura.

Vehicles recovered

The Hennur police on Saturday arrested two youths on charges of theft and recovered from them gold ornaments, silver articles and two two-wheelers.

Woman stabbed

In K.S. Layout in J.P. Nagar police station limits on Monday night, Hombalaiah allegedly stabbed his wife, Gowramma (40).


A mentally challenged woman reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Bellandur on Monday. The Koramangala police gave her name as Selvi.
