Tenants urged to seek ownership of land

SHIMOGA Jan. 31. The former judge of the Karnataka High Court, N.D.Venkatesh, said here on Thursday that it was proper to allot ''Bhoo-Vidyadaan Shala Jaminu'' (land) to its tenants.

Inaugurating a seminar on the problems of the tenants of the Bhoo-Vidyadaan Shala Jaminu, he said even there should be no complication in the Government confirming the ownership rights of such land in favour of the tenants.

Mr. Venkatesh said it was only fair if the tenants sought the ownership of such land when the Land Reforms Act was effectively implemented in the State.

He suggested to the organisers to collect information to convince the Government of the need to make the tenants owners of the government school land.

The Hosnagar MLA, B.Swamy Rao, the freedom fighter, Ponnammal, Kadidal Shamanna, the President of the Janata Dal (United) district unit, V.Raju, B.R.Jayanth, the member of the Shimoga Zilla Panchayat, Ramachandrappa, and the former Vice-President of the zilla panchayat, Phani Rajappa, spoke.

In his welcome address, the Convenor, Kallur Megharaj, explained the problems of the tenants of the Bhoo-Vidyadaan Shala Jaminu.
