Software engineer waylaid, robbed

BANGALORE: A three-member gang waylaid a software engineer and robbed him of a gold ring, a mobile phone and cash in Upparpet police station limits on Friday night.

The police said that around 10 p.m. three men stopped S.D. Sen on Seshadri Road, off Maharani College.

They slapped him and took away the ring, the mobile phone and Rs. 200. Sen, a native of Kolkata, is employed as a software engineer at Tata Consultancy Services on Seshadri Road.

The Upparpet police have registered a case.

Robbery bid foiled

An alert public foiled an attempt by a three-member gang to rob an autorickshaw driver on Palace Road on Friday night. The public chased the three and caught one of them, Ibrahim (22) of Kalasipalya.

The police said that around 8 p.m., three men stopped an autorickshaw driver, Riyaz of Hosaguddadhahalli, on Palace Road in Upparpet police station limits. When they tried to rob him, Riyaz raised an alarm and people chased them and were able to catch Ibrahim.

The Upparpet police have registered a case.
