Rs. 10.5 crore sought to build vented dams

UDUPI, FEB. 26. The district in-charge Minister, Vasanth V. Salian, has said that a proposal has been sent to the Government seeking Rs. 10.5 crore for the construction of vented dams under the Paschimavahini project in the district. He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for a vented dam at Balakatta here recently.

Mr. Salian said the Chief Minister had responded positively to the proposal and had forwarded it to the Finance Department for approval. A number of vented dams were being constructed in the Kaup Assembly constituency with assistance from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. These included a vented dam at Gundarkatta being built at a cost of Rs. 17.5 lakh, one at Belapu at a cost of Rs. 23.5 lakh, and one at Maralakatta near Inna at a cost of Rs. 9.2 lakh.
