Revision of voters' list from Jan. 29

BELGAUM, JAN. 20. The Belgaum City Corporation will launch an intensive revision of electoral rolls for 2002 in Belgaum Assembly Constituency from January 29 to February 2.

The Secretary of the BCC Council and Returning Officer, V.S.Chougala, said the latest voter list had been made available in Kannada and Marathi for verification. The people could verify their names and other information in the list at polling stations, schools and at the BCC office from January 29 to February 13.

He said a person aged 18 as on January 1, 2002 was eligible for enrollment in the voters list subject to the Electoral Registration Rules. Corrections or objections could be made by February 13. Headmasters of primary schools had been appointed as designated officers to receive objections and corrections.

For inclusion of names, applicants should submit the Form no. 6 supported by copy/extract of any of the documents such as ration card, passport, khata certificate issued by revenue authorities, municipalities, rent receipt, driving licence and identity card issued by the Election Commission as a proof of resident of the constituency.

For age proof, the applicant should submit birth certificate issued by Birth and Deaths Register or certificates by school, college, university, or from Government departments, boards, corporations, autonomous bodies and institutions, he said.
