Plus Two: Inspection of school begins

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JULY 12. The three-member committee has started inspection of schools that has applied for sanctioning of Plus Two courses in the district in the wake of the High Court verdict.

As many as 15 schools were inspected so far by the committee comprising of the District Panchayat president, Mr. V. Gangadharan Nadar, the District Collector, Ms. Sarada Muralidharan, and the Deputy Director (Education), Mr. M. Arunkumar.

In the district, 140 schools had applied for the Plus Two courses. Of these, 49 are Government schools and the remaining private schools. The inspection will be completed by July 16 and the report would be submitted to the Government on July 17.

The District Collector, in a release, said the inspection of the schools would be undertaken even after the school working hours as the report had to be submitted on July 17.

The three-member committee is looking into minute details such as the name of the school, whether functioning in the Government or private sector, floor area of the school building, whether it is permanent or temporary, documents regarding the plot, area of the classrooms and facilities, laboratory and library facilities, availability of separate rooms and toilet facilities for girl students, availability of drinking water, dining room and playing ground during the inspection.

In addition, the number of students in the tenth standard, details such as the number of batches applied for subject wise, whether there is college near the school, and if so, the distance are also being looked into during the inspection.
