'Parivala' editor sentenced

BANGALORE Oct. 3. The IX Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Chandrashekhar B.Hipparagi, has sentenced Ravi Kumar, editor, publisher and printer of the fortnightly, "Parivala'', in connection with a criminal defamation case filed against him by the former Director of Pre-University Education and CET Cell Special Officer, B.A.Harish Gowda.

The sentence includes imprisonment of one year and two months and a penalty of Rs.3,000. The offence is related to criminal defamation and violation of the provisions of Press and Registration of Books Act.

Mr. Gowda is now the Secretary of Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).
