Now, a website for missing children

NEW DELHI, MAY 7. Missing children now have a new address. An Indore-based couple has launched India's first website providing information on missing, lost or kidnapped children in order to help their families and law-enforcing agencies to trace them.

The website, www.missingindiankids.com, has listings under five zones which are clearly marked on a map of India.

Each listing is accompanied by a photograph and identification marks of the missing or kidnapped child along with other details.

The website also contains a web poster for each missing child to enable people to take printouts and paste them in public places.

Sections like guidelines on prevention of child abduction and steps to take in emergency situations are also provided.

Mrs. Nidhi Bhargava, who along with her husband, Mr. Anuj conceived the idea, says the site offers an alternative and unconventional method of locating a missing child.

It seeks to complement the conventional ways of tracing missing people and is not intended to interfere with the system's procedure or to promote false hopes among relatives, she says.
