Man, woman murdered in two incidents

BANGALORE, NOV. 29. A man and a woman were murdered in separate incidents reported in Mahalakshmi Layout and Hanumanthanagar police station limits on Sunday.

The police said Shiva Kumar alias Vajpayee (45), a painter, fell unconscious after his friend Ramesh allegedly assaulted him on Sunday evening. Ramesh, who was admitted to hospital, died around midnight.

Kumar was staying with his sister, Sharadamma, at her house at J.C. Nagar in Mahalakshmi Layout police station limits. Ramesh and Kumar came to Sharadamma's house around 4 p.m. after having liquor at a wine shop, the police said. Ramesh allegedly started assaulting Kumar saying that he had bought him a small quantity of liquor.

The Mahalaksmi Layout police have registered a case and are on the lookout for Ramesh.

In another incident, Basavaraj, an autorickshaw driver, allegedly hit his wife, Girijamma (35), on the head with an empty gas cylinder at their house on Ramanjaneya Temple Road in Hanumanthanagar police station limits on Sunday night.

Girijamma died at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences. Basavaraj allegedly attacked his wife following a domestic quarrel, the police said. The Hanumanthanagar police have registered a case and arrested Basavaraj.

Youth attacked

Two youths attacked Narasimha Murthy (20) of Basappanakatte, a garment factory employee, with choppers at Kareemsab Layout in Rajagopalanagar police station limits around 9 a.m. on Monday, the police said.

Murthy, who was injured, was admitted to hospital. The police said the two youths attacked Murthy following a quarrel when they were playing cricket on Sunday afternoon.

Burgled

Four youths threatened the employees of a hotel in Jayanagar police station limits on Sunday night and took away electronic gadgets worth Rs.1.10 lakhs. The police said the incident occurred around 11.30 p.m. at the hotel on 31st Cross, 4th Block, Jayanagar. The youths reportedly made away with a projector, CD player, a mobile phone and other articles after threatening Hemanth and Ramanath of the hotel.

Chains snatched

A youth snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 28,000 from M.S. Jagadamba, a tailor, in Vijayanagar police station limits on Sunday.

The police said the incident occurred around 4 p.m. in RPC Layout when Jagadamba was going to her brother's house. The youth reportedly escaped on a motorcycle with his accomplice. The Vijayanagar police have registered a case.

In another incident, a boy snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 10,000 from Annamma Thomas in Banaswadi police station limits on Sunday.

The police said the incident occurred around 6 p.m. in Karunakara Layout in Lingarajapuram. The Banaswadi police have registered a case.

Two killed in accidents

Mohan (45), a BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) bus driver, was killed when a private bus reportedly hit his motorcycle on Tumkur Road, off Widia, in the early hours of Monday.

Ranjita (8) was run over by a BMTC bus in Nelamangala police station limits on Monday.
