Man killed in road mishap

BANGALORE OCT. 26. A man riding a cycle was killed when a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus hit him at T. Dasarahalli at 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Police gave the name of the victim as Venkatachala (40), a resident of Manjunathnagar.


A three-year-old girl, Lakshmi, was drowned in a construction pit filled with water on Dickenson Road in Ulsoor Police limits on Saturday.

Lakshmi, daughter of a watchman, was reportedly playing near the pit when she accidentally slipped into it, police said.

Found dead

A 25-year-old youth was found dead near the Bangalore Bus Stand on Thursday.

Police suspect it to be a case of suicide.

The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police on Sunday raided a lodge in Kalasipalyam and arrested Jayaraj (70), its owner, and 10 persons on a charge of running a prostitution racket.

A sum of Rs. 4,750 was recovered from him.


Hanumanthnagar Police have arrested Krishna Naik (28) of Banashankari on a charge of theft and recovered gold and silver articles worth Rs. 70,000 from.

The Hebbal Police have arrested Santosh (23), Nandish (19), Mohammed Sharief (22), Suresh (28) of Kodagu district on a charge of chain<243> snatching and recovered ornaments worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs from them.

Jnanabharati Police have arrested Khaleel (23) from Shamanna Garden, Zubair (20) from Gangondanahalli and Salim (24) from Goripalya on a charge of burglary and recovered articles worth Rs. 1 lakh from them.

New Tharagupet Police have arrested A.R. Nagaraj (26) from Byadarahalli on a charge of theft and recovered aluminium electric wires worth about Rs. 20,000 from him.

The wires were allegedly stolen from Tavarekere Police limits in Magadi taluk.

Groups clash

Two groups clashed in NP Block in Srirampuram on Sunday after an alleged attempt to murder a member of one of the groups.

Police said Rajamurthy, who works for a film-distributor, allegedly assaulted<243> Venkatesh (32), a car driver, and hit him with a boulder<243> resulting in serious injuries to the latter.

Venkatesh, who lost consciousness, has been admitted to NIMHANS.

Police said Rajamurthy owed Rs. 500 to Venkatesh and the two had quarrelled as Venkatesh insisted that Rajamurthy repay him.

After the incident, the family members of Rajamurthy and Venkatesh reportedly clashed leading to tension in the area. Police dispersed them.

Srirampuram Police have registered a case.
