COIMBATORE: As many as 121 students of the Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School at Selvapuram were admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Friday afternoon as they complained of vomiting and giddiness after taking noon meal in the school.

It is learnt that a tenth standard student Malathy noticed a lizard in her plate and alerted the school authorities.

Even as the school staff tried to prevent other children from taking their noon meal, a section of the students who had taken their meal by then took ill and complained of vomiting and giddiness. All the 121 students who had taken their meal were rushed to the hospital.

Twenty of them had serious complaints of nausea. The condition of the students was reported to be stable.

The noon-meal organiser Indubala and assistants Tulasiammal and Kasthuri have been placed under suspension.
