Illicit arrack seized

COIMBATORE, JUNE 1. The Prohibition Enforcement Wing of the Coimbatore Rural Police has seized 36 drums each containing 200 litres of illicitly distilled arrack in a two-day raid in various pockets in the district known for prohibition offences.

The police said the raids, ordered by the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural, R. Dinakaran, led to booking of 23 cases. Of the 36 drums, 26 were seized today.

A team led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, A.S. Nandakumar, carried out the raids at Sevur, Meenkuttai and Tamaraikulam.
