HIV positive people told not to lose faith in themselves

CREATING AWARENESS: Students of various medical colleges on Thursday took out a procession in Mangalore as part of the World AIDS Day.

MANGALORE: World AIDS Day was observed in different places in Dakshina Kannada on Thursday. Third year diploma nursing students of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, Deralakatte, organised a health awareness programme at Manjanady village. They enacted a play to convey a message against the spread of the disease.

The Students Islamic Organisation of India organised an awareness programme in the premises of the Deputy Commissioner here. Speakers at the meet called upon people to cultivate and preserve moral values.

Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society organised an awareness programme at the Town Hall here. Gopal, coordinator, National Service Scheme, spoke on different aspects of AIDS.

N. Yogish Bhat, MLA, in his address advised those HIV positive people and AIDS patients not to lose faith in themselves.

M.R. Mohanraj, district health and family welfare officer, gave an introductory note. Deputy Commissioner H.V. Parshwanath, spoke.

Students, officials and members of voluntary organisations took out a procession from Light House Hill to Town Hall.
