High Court allows extra seats for Plus Two

KOCHI, JULY 6. A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Friday allowed the State Government to increase Plus Two seats in the existing higher secondary schools by 20 per cent subject to certain conditions.

The Bench comprising Mr. Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan and Mr. Justice G. Sasidharan granted permission for sanctioning 10 seats each per batch in the existing schools on a petition moved by the Secretary, Higher Education.

The court, however, made it clear that the sanctioning of seats would be subject to some conditions. The condition was that seats shall not be granted to schools against which there were complaints by rival claimants and against which a single judge had made certain findings.

When the petition came up before the Bench, the Additional Advocate General expressed `extreme necessity' for sanctioning 10 seats per batch in the existing schools. It was in this context that the High Court granted permission to sanction more Plus Two seats.
