HC extends interim stay

BANGALORE OCT. 13. Justice H. Rangavittalachar of the Karnataka High Court today passed orders extending the interim order granted earlier by three weeks and also granted 10 days' time to the government advocate to file objections. The judge passed interim orders on the writ petitions filed by B. Krishna Bhat. The petitioner had challenged the notice issued by the Chairman, Privileges Committee of the Legislative Council, who had directed him to appear before the committee. Earlier Mr. Justice K. Bhaktavatsala, while directing the government advocate to take notice, had passed an interim order of stay. The petitioner in his two writ petitions had challenged the notice issued by the Chairman, Privileges Committee, directing him to appear before the committee on October 7. The petitioner had written to the Speaker that the matter relating to a certain layout formed by Vishwabharathi House-building Cooperative Society was pending before the court and the same could not discussed in House since the matter was sub judice. In another notice, the legislature had referred a matter relating to the tours of legislators which the petitioner had challenged in a public interest writ petition. The judge adjourned further hearing of the petition.
